01

Your pathway comes first

General Training is used for some migration, work, and below-degree study pathways. Requirements differ; confirm the test type and each required skill score with the relevant authority.

02

Letters with the right tone

A request to a friend and a complaint to a manager need different language. Practise covering every bullet point while matching your tone to the recipient.

03

Everyday to extended reading

Reading moves from short practical texts to workplace material and a longer general-interest text. Build accuracy across these changing contexts.

Know the task.
Practise the skill behind it.

Build a routine around the decisions that matter: finding evidence, choosing what to include, developing an answer and keeping to time.

General Reading

60 minutes · 40 questions

Three sections increase in difficulty: everyday texts, workplace texts, and a longer passage on a general-interest topic.

Your practice focus

Locate practical details quickly, distinguish similar options, and support each answer with wording from the text.

General Writing

60 minutes · two tasks

Task 1: a letter of at least 150 words responding to a situation. Task 2: an essay of at least 250 words about a viewpoint, argument, or problem.

Your practice focus

Make the letter’s purpose clear, address all three points, choose a suitable tone, and develop supported essay paragraphs.

Listening

Four parts · 40 questions

Practise following conversations and talks in everyday and educational settings. The core Listening format is shared with IELTS Academic.

Your practice focus

Notice corrections and distractors, track the sequence of information, and review spelling and answer limits.

Speaking

11–14 minutes · three parts

Rehearse the interview, longer individual turn, and discussion. Recording and playback let you revisit your delivery after each attempt.

Your practice focus

Build beyond short answers, explain your position, and use transcript feedback to review language and structure.
